Weston-super-Mare Museum is a real treasure trove that tells the wonderful story of the area’s varied and colourful past. Take a stroll around the former gasworks company building or just relax in the attractive palm lined courtyard cafe . The Weston-super-Mare Museum in Burlington Street, Weston-super-Mare offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the exciting history of North Somerset from pre-history to the present day. School groups are welcome but need to book in advance. At Weston-super-Mare Museum pupils can learn, in an exciting environment, about the history of the landscape, wildlife and people of the local area. You can hire the museum courtyard for special events outside normal hours; the Art Gallery is available for hire for groups of up to 50 people. Upper Gallery meeting room for hire groups of up to 35 people.

Our shop stocks a wide range of prints, postcards, books and gifts to suit all tastes and pockets. It is a great place to look for unusual gifts. Of particular note is the selection of books, postcards, pictures, CDs and pamphlets dealing with the history of the North Somerset area. The Made in Weston Craft Group also have a sales area in the museum shop where visitors can purchase unique, hand made, contemporary craft items. Both our shop and cafe are free to visit; you do not need to buy a ticket for the museum. We are within easy reach of the M5, junction 21. Weston Railway Station is 10 minutes walk. There are coach drop-off points on the seafront and it is a short walk from the Tourist Information Centre on the seafront. The ground floor, shop and café are all wheelchair accessible but there is no access to Clara’s Cottage for wheelchairs and buggies. The Museum has a manual, folding frame wheelchair that can be borrowed for the duration of your visit.
