The Art Deco décor and fittings are as sumptuous as the food which include shucked oysters mignonette with fresh lemon, braised steak and Brixton Ale pie, a 10 oz 28-day dry age Rib-eye steak with roasted vine tomatoes and grilled asparagus and a Rosary Goats cheese salad with ash, golden beetroot, lettuce, candied walnuts and borage honey dressing.
Pair with a wine or cocktail – we tried the Blowing Bubbles made with Cognac, Chamoagne and angostura, a tribute to nearby West Ham Football Club’s anthem song, which was fantastic. We were too scared to try the Double Kray – created using Butlers Gin made in Hackney Wick, less than a mile from the hotel, along with elderflower liquor and apple juice, a nod to The Kray brothers, the notorious East London gangsters.
‘We have a lot of guests staying here who are going to see ABBA Voyage,’ our waitress told us. ‘They come in afterwards looking to book the concert again. They always say they haven’t seen anything like it.’
We felt the same and after maxing our credit cards in Westfield Stratford City we can’t wait to return and catch another glimpse of the supergroup and make the most of our home away from home at Hyatt House.
