Situated in one of the prettiest villages in Derbyshire on the fringes of the Peak District this friendly pub has around 10 real ales to try, including some from their own micro brewery.It is recommended by the Good Pub Guide and was runner-up in Nationwide Search for Britain’s Best Local Pub 2011 competition
The Furnace Inn, 9 Duke Street, Derby DE1
One for the city dwellers and goers. Escape the bustle of Derby city centre and enjoy a quiet pint in the Derby CAMRA Pub Of The Year 2014. The pub has around eight real ales, including some brewed on site at the Shiny Brewing brewery.
Barley Mow, Kirk Ireton DE6 3JP
This Grade II listed, character-filled oldie-worldly pub, which dates back to the 17th century, is described by CAMRA as “a historic pub interior of regional importance” and visits are recommended.There are usually three guest real ales as well as a regular one, and one beer, usually Hartington IPA from Whim Brewery, is kept in the cellar and served via a jug.
Travellers Rest, Apperknowle S18 4BD Winner of Dronfield & District CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014 and Summer Pub of the Season 2014, this pub features nine real ales from local brewers and up to 10 traditional ciders. Watch out for occasional beer festivals and music nights. CAMRA Discount available.
Tramway Tavern, Brampton S40 2AT Chesterfield and District CAMRA Pub of the Year 2014 and Chesterfield Food and Drinks Award Pub of the Year 2013, this has eight beers from all over the country, including a good selection from the local Brampton Brewery.
A winner of Derby CAMRA’s ‘Country Pub Of The Year’ award three years running (2011, 2012 and 2013), and runner up in 2014, this pub offers beers from breweries all over England, Scotland and Wales.
Old Hall Inn, Whitehough SK23 6EJ
With beers described as exceptional by The Good Pub Guide this pub is a must visit for the beer connoisseur. The pub was a former coaching inn and has won many CAMRA awards, including best pub in Derbyshire, and has won the Best Cask Pub in Region for the last four years in the ‘Great British Pub Awards’.

Listed as ‘worth a visit’ in the Good Pub guide and Winner of Derby CAMRA Pub of the Year 2011 this traditional pub specialises in cask ales, lagers and artisan ciders and usually has eight real ales and ciders on tap
