This year Dorset Food & Drink are bringing you Dorset Food & Arts Festival which takes place on Saturday 3rd August at Queen Mother Square, Poundbury

It's set to be another great event, with lots of local food and drink, arts and crafts, live music performances and chefs cooking up a storm with some delicious Dorset ingredients.

Food and music on stage…

This year's line-up includes cookery demonstrations from Lesley Waters, Sarah Ali Choudhury and Russell Brown. There's music from the Dorset Wrecks, Just Sing choir and the Weymouth Ukuleleans. See the full line-up at dorsetfestival.org.

And on the stalls…

As always this event is a wonderful showcase for local food and drink producers. So here's a little taste:

V Dorset's Weirdoughs: This new 100% plant-based (vegan) dessert street food concept is the creation of Keri Astill-Frew, the talented Poole-based chef behind V Dorset. Weirdoughs features delicious home-made cookie dough, which is deep fried and served with dairy-free ice cream and a selection of toppings. No-one will believe that these desserts are vegan!

Elaionaki Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil: This small Dorset-based producer uses Greek olives harvested from a grove of 500 year-old trees in South Pelion, overlooking the Gulf of Pagasitikos. The oil is pressed with purely mechanical methods, which helps to maintain its biochemical properties, including the "good" monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamins (vitamin E) and antioxidant components, such as polyphenols. It's then shipped from Pelion to Poundbury where it is bottled and labelled by its owner!

The Book & Bucket Cheese Company: This new family business, based at Manor Farm in Cranborne, is making small batch artisan cheese using sheep and cows' milk sourced from local farms with the highest animal welfare. Using names of famous writers, currently on their cheeseboard is Austen a feta-style cheese, Orwell a soft sheep's cheese, the halloumi-inspired Burns ideal for grilling and BBQs, and their latest addition Hemingway, a salad cheese matured in Kalamata olive brine. thebookandbucketcheesecompany.co.uk
