The country house hotel is the modern day interpretation and Newick Park in East Sussex is one of the best. It is one of the few to be privately owned and run so it still feels exactly like a family home; it is elegant and friendly, with huge log ?res, fabulous antiques and wonderful staff.
The restaurant, which has won the coveted three rosettes from the AA not once but three times in recent years, offers ?ne dining in a relaxed atmosphere based on a modern European menu.
Much of the food served in the restaurant is grown in the estate’s own walled garden, game comes from the estate during the winter months and all the food is sourced as locally as possible.
The award-winning restaurant has held the Conde Nast Johansens Readers’ Award for customer service. This is the only award to be judged solely on guest comments and is awarded to hotels that receive consistently excellent feedback throughout the year.
