Venue
Located on the picturesque banks of the River Dee, the Corn Mill is a cosy, friendly pub with a seriously good view. Old beams add character to the interior, but walk past the water wheel which turns slowly behind the bar and take a seat on the outside decks for a real treat. Built directly over the mill race and the rapids, watch as steam trains arrive and leave from the restored station on the other side of the river and see kayakers navigate blue waves.
Menu
A classic pub menu with a slightly upmarket twist, there is a wide variety of choice ranging from small dishes and lunchtime favourites through to delicious main courses and scrumptious sounding desserts. As we were visiting for lunch, we decided on a dish each from the light bites menu. Smoked haddock kedgeree on curried rice with a crispy egg (£9.25) caught my eye immediately, and my companion opted for the Steak sandwich with fried onions, a few chips and tomato chutney (£9.95). The portion of haddock was huge, served on a bed of lightly curried rice. If this is a light bite, I’m intrigued to know what the size of the main courses are! The runny yolk from the crispy egg added a comforting touch. The steak sandwich was also a reasonable size, with a few crispy yet fluffy chips on the side.
