Yelverton based British Beds Worldwide Limited, as a full Member of The Furniture Ombudsman, was recently invited to attend a reception hosted at the House of Lords by Lord Warrington on behalf of FIRA ( the UK Furniture Industry Research Association) for FIRA's annual awards ceremony, celebrating all that is great in UK furniture design and innovation.Pictured are BBW directors Roger and Elaine Charles on the terrace of the Houses of Parliament on the blustery but warm evening of 22 June.Roger said: " We felt very fortunate to be invited to such a fine and prestigious occasion. We were given a private tour of both Houses and felt humbled to stand on the exact spot where only 24 hours previously Aung San Suu Kyi had given her historic speech in Westminster Hall and where many others have also made histroy down the years. We felt no need for such humility when standing on the back benches, of course, but the sense of "power to the people" was very real when we saw and felt the difference between the two Houses.House of Lords wine and hot canapes flowed freely, and Lord Hoyle was a friendly and jovial host. "Being a great supporter of export of British furniture he was very impressed by our story of persistence and success in a niche market. Who knows, perhaps one day we may return to collect a Queen's Award for International Trade. Now that would be amazing!" said Roger.BBW has seen continuos expansion of its overseas sales since the company was incorporated in 2004. From small beginnings as BritishBedsinFrance in 2005, the company now has a private and exclusive showroom near Geneva in Switzerland and sends "high-end" beds and mattress direct into customers' bedrooms all over the World. To provide the same service in the UK BBW rrecently opened offices and a showroom at Yelverton Business Park.More details: www.britishbedsworldwide.comTel 01822 853636
