Thousands flock to County Show with a rural heart...
Visitor numbers were up by 4,000 at the Kent County Show, following a four-year decline. George Jessel, Kent County Agricultural Society Chairman, said: “85,000 visitors over the three Show days is more than we had dared hope for. The trend has been negative for a number of years and we are delighted that the general public supported our initiative to take the Show back to its farming roots.”
The new ‘Why Farming Matters’ stand took a prime spot at the main entrance and the Kent Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs had a bigger, improved area with more than 500 animals.
The new public lawn opposite the Show Office worked well and more visitors were able see the displays in the Main Ring, including the welcome return of the Grand Parade of Livestock.
The old Falmouth Ring was divided in two and hosted the Countryside Area and popular new Village Green.
