Seven stunning wildflower meadows have been created across Maidstone with the help of volunteers

Seven stunning wildflower meadows have been created across Maidstone with the help of volunteers, thanks to Maidstone Borough Council's 'Go Green Go Wild' project created by the Council Parks and Open Spaces team to encourage people to look after the nature on their doorstep.

Maidstone Borough Council workers prepared the land late in spring, ready for volunteers to come along and sow wildflower seeds to brighten the neighbourhoods and create purposeful habitats for wildlife. The seven areas are:

Shepway Green: seven children and parents who are part of Shepway Chariots Saturday morning gardening club, Shepway Shallots, helped sow the seeds. The 'before' and 'after' results are above.

Parkwood Recreation Ground: a drop-in session for residents in the Easter holidays.

Grovewood Drive, Grove Green: eco Councillors from St John's Primary School sowed the seeds.

Whatman Park: staff from Maidstone Borough Council parks team sowed the seeds in the park as part of a volunteer day for the Great British Spring Clean.

Gatland Lane Recreation Ground: Year 2 children from Jubilee Primary went along to sow wildflower seeds.

South Park: Southborough School children with Fran Wilson and Friends of South Park sowed wildflower seeds.

Bearsted Road, opposite Hilton Hotel: Maidstone Borough Council's Grounds Team created the wildflower meadows.
