Based in the Sixth Form Centre, The Study Zone is an ultra modern Wi-Fi enabled resource and study area that allows students to study individually, in groups or for the entire sixth form to attend lectures together.
The school’s Vice-Chair of Governors, David Tandy, opened the new facility. Explaining that it had been a collaborative and team effort, he said: “Many groups of people and companies have contributed towards this project and thanks must go to both the Friends of Truro High School and The Old Girls Association who have donated towards the Wi-Fi system, outdoor seating and projector. To Jon Liesching at West Country Interiors who designed the area and supplied the desks, bookcase, window panel and door system and to our own estate team led by Gary Williams who masterminded the whole project.” Asked what the girls thought of the new area, they enthused that it was “great, really good” and that they were working in it so much already.
Headmistress, Caroline Pascoe, was equally pleased with the development. She said: “The improvements to the Sixth Form Centre are a credit to all involved. It is an inspirational environment for our staff and girls to work in and has lifted the sixth form into the 21st Century.”
As well as The Study Zone, work has also been carried out on the entrance to the Sixth Form Centre. By providing better access to the main school, responsibilities have been met under the Disabled Discrimination Act and the retaining wall will be constructed of named bricks purchased through the school’s Buy-a-Brick fundraising appeal.
