Mel Todd, 38, from Oxton on the Wirral, has worked in Chester for many years and is the manager of Cloud Gallery Fine Art on Lower Bridge Street. Here she reveals her fashion loves and loathes.

What do you wear to work?

I like to simply be myself at all times and as such do not have separate work/private ‘selves’ or wardrobes. I am fortunate that the environment in which I work allows for a little creativity and although there’s no sloppy jeans for work - the Doc Marten biker boots stay, nearly always - on the whole I dress as I would in my everyday life.

What do you wear for a big night out?

Same as above – but the more beguiling part of my wardrobe! And this could be something Armani, ‘Primani’, vintage or something I’ve made. If I like something, I like it. Although I am partial to a little Vivienne Westwood.

Tell us about your biggest fashion mistake?

Oh! A pair of Vivienne Westwood gladiator come Mary-Jane style heels. They were awful – on me at least! Thankfully at least, I decided against the gold and went with the black.

Tell us about the last occasion you stepped out feeling good?

I always step out feeling good!

Who do you consider to be the most stylish man and woman of the past century?

Isabella Blow. She was a walking piece of art. And Jack Sparrow.

What fragrance do you wear?

Daytime, it’s Lush ‘Breath of God’. For evening it’s Vivienne Westwood ‘Boudoir’.

Which grooming products are in your bathroom?

Hair bleach, dye, conditioners. Lots of them. When you change your colour as often as I do , it’s all about the hair!

Which product would you be lost without?

My under eye concealer! Goodness, the thought!

Are you a gym body?

NO! Exercise and I are not on friendly terms. Never have been. I did a lot of Yoga for many years but sadly it’s been a long time. I am pleased to report I have recently taken up regular swimming and so far attendance has been good (early days!).

What’s your favourite thing to do to unwind?

Friends. Food. Alcohol. Music. Or a cosy night in with a film or good book. I also like to do many creative things as and when time allows. All after a good cup of tea of course.

Do you have a grooming tip you swear by?

Never pluck your eyebrows from above. Always below. Always.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

France. Paris and the South of, predominantly.

What was the last book you read?

I love to read but I didn’t take to reading as a child or growing up. I have spent my adult life making up for lost time and reading a lot, particularly classics. But I read in fits and starts and haven’t picked anything up for a while. I believe the last book I read was ‘Cuban Slippers’ by Charlie Landsborough whom I loosely know. I thoroughly enjoyed it but it’s still with the publishers – one to keep an eye out for, definitely.
