A stylish night at the King’s School in Macclesfield raised a record £4,000 for The Christie Hospital in Manchester, with a £250 donation from Jaguar Land Rover boosting the final total.

The school’s annual fashion show, themed around Come Fly With Me, was organised by sixth form pupils and saw students showcase a range of fun and formal wear donated by top shops such as John Douglas, Quiz, Marks and Spencer, SOS, Pure, Sorella and Jane’s Exchange.

Model and organiser Lucy Miller, 17, from Gawsworth, said: ‘The six weeks lead-up and the seemingly endless hours of preparation proved there is more to the fashion industry than merely looking good for an hour.’
