Snowdonia
You don’t have to be a hill-walker to enjoy the spectacular scenery of Snowdonia National Park. The scenery is simply breathtaking, with beautiful lakes, rolling rivers and waterfalls as well as the numerous peaks and mountains. Of course, if you are a hill-walker or mountaineer, you’ll be spoilt for choice in Snowdonia; and for the less-active, everything can be seen from the comfort of your vehicle on one of the many driving routes.
Anglesey
The island of Anglesey is unique, with its stunning scenery and historical towns, it certainly has a different feel to the rest of North Wales. Yet it is still easily accessible with a road link to the mainland. Sample some of the local foods at the farmers market, or relax and explore the great outdoors.
Coastline and Beaches
Most of Anglesey’s coastline is certified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its numerous beaches and shores. Further East along the North Wales coast is the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno, with plenty of fun for the whole family. We spoke to Grant Gidham, Head of Marketing at Park Leisure Holiday Homes, to find out why consumers are opting to remain in the UK, in favour of trips abroad:
“There are numerous factors behind this. The growing trend in “staycation” and an emphasis on discovering the UK has definitely influenced the holiday home market; the idea of being able to escape the pressures of day-to-day life whenever you want, as often as you want, 12-months a year is a big pull for a lot of people.
In addition, I think consumer confidence in holidays abroad has taken a dent over the past few years, with more and more people looking to invest in their own bolt hold right here in the UK.”
Park Leisure own a number of 5-star owners only holiday parks across the UK. They provide a 5-star service, which really is their unique selling point against their competitors. They have recently acquired Brynteg Holiday Home Park, near the historic North Wales town of Caernarfon, which supplements their flagship park, Plas Coch, Anglesey, which Grant describes as “the most exclusive park in the UK.”
Upon visiting, it is apparent that these aren’t your typical holiday parks. And with prices reaching upwards of half a million pounds, the key focus of Park Leisure is to create the most luxurious retreat where families can enjoy their holiday homes. Grant says “not only do we excel at providing 5-star holiday parks, but we pride ourselves in delivering a 5-star service to match.”
Uniquely within the holiday park industry, Park leisure offer its owners complimentary access to its “Privilege” concierge service, a provision designed specifically to take care of owners’ requirements, including restaurant bookings, theatre tickets, taking receipt of groceries, and ensuring the refrigerator is well-stocked. “Our aim is to deliver that 5-star hotel style experience, but within a holiday park setting,” says Grant. “In a nutshell, the ideal is for our owners to show up, relax and we’ll help take care of the rest.”
Park Leisure pride themselves on allowing their owners to enjoy their leisure time, whether it’s kicking back and relaxing, or something a bit more active. Some parks also have activity programmes, live events, or on-site restaurants. “It’s nothing like the typical holiday parks you might be familiar with,” says Grant. “We really have invested in creating something up-market with wonderful staff, and that’s really where we differentiate holiday parks not just in the North Wales area, but the UK in general.”
Park Leisure acquired the Plas Coch site in Anglesey last year for £15m, so it’s quite a substantial investment, and so far it has been a phenomenal success. Grant says: “for us it represents the epitome of luxury, and we have owners from all over Cheshire, Greater Manchester and into North Wales who make use of their holiday home most weekends and holidays.”
The future for Park leisure is looking really good. They have rapidly expanded in the last few years and are still looking to evolve even further. “If I were to sum up our ethos,” says Grant, “it would be ‘5-star parks, 5-star service, 5-star people,’ and that’s what we do. We invest in our parks, we invest in our owners’ enjoyment and we invest in our people to ensure this.”
