St Joseph’s School in Launceston has been shortlisted to win the Outstanding Progress – Independent School Award

St Joseph’s School in Launceston has been shortlisted to win the Outstanding Progress – Independent School Award at the Education Business Awards being held at the Emirate Football Stadium in London on Thursday 10th November 2011.

The school has been nominated for its excellent GCSE, Key Stage 1, 2 and Foundation results, its sporting successes; community fundraising; outstanding music success (performing at BBC School Proms at the Royal Albert Hall) and also for winning the 2011 ISA Award for Excellence. Perhaps the most important reason for being nominated is that the school has been recognised for producing confident, well-mannered students in line with the school’s philosophy of A Firm Foundation For Life.

Four other well-known schools nationally have been shortlisted alongside St Joseph’s including St Paul’s School London and Caterham School Surrey. Mrs Rowe, Head Teacher at St Joseph’s School said ‘We are delighted and proud to make the top 5 schools in the country nominated for this prestigious award. It has been a very exciting year for St Joseph’s and it was a complete surprise to hear we had been shortlisted. I am looking forward to attending the award ceremony in London on Thursday and I congratulate all staff and pupils whose work and dedication to excellence has led to St Joseph’s receiving this honour.’

St Joseph’s School is the only school shortlisted for an award from the South West Peninsula. The Outstanding Progress – Independent School Award is presented to the school that has made outstanding progress and offers an excellent standard of education for its pupils.

St Joseph’s School is a small independent day school based in Launceston, Cornwall which welcomes boys and girls from age 3. There is considerable demand for places in 2012 and 2013, so visits to the school and taster days are advised. Scholarship awards are available with the next examinations taking place on Saturday 14th January 2012 for both the Junior and Senior Schools.
