Duloe's 'The Plough' becomes another part of the Barclay House Family

Duloe’s ‘The Plough’ becomes another part of the Barclay House Family.

Award winning Cornish hotel and restaurant Barclay House is pleased to announce the freehold acquisition of ‘Ye Olde Plough House Inn’ in Duloe. This brings the portfolio of restaurants to three, alongside Barclay House and Trawlers on the Quay.

The popular restaurant with public house facilities will trade as ‘The Plough by Barclay House’ and will provide culinary expertise under the award winning executive chef Benjamin Palmer and management of Graham and Gill Brooks that led to Barclay House being awarded ‘Restaurant of the Year’ 2010 by Taste of the West.

Both Barclay House and sister restaurant Trawlers on the Quay were two, of just three restaurants in Cornwall to receive the coveted gold award.

Barclay House has also agreed to provide The Plough as a temporary location for the Duloe post office following its closure, providing a crucial service to the local people, as well as creating a number of employment opportunities within the local economy.

The company’s owner Malcolm Brooks commented “I am absolutely delighted with this purchase as it fits in so well with our strategy of impeccable quality within this locality which provides top quality cuisine, friendly and efficient service as well as employment for the company and its much valued local suppliers. It is also good for the Duloe community who have been very supportive. “

The Plough will be the 15th freehold property in the Looe district to be purchased since the company’s incorporation in 2006.

The Barclay House family is committed to the local area through use of neighbouring suppliers ranging from Looe day boat fish and local vegetable growers, to the handmade Cornish chocolates from the chocolate dream company placed on the pillows in the rooms.
