PEOPLE are invited to join a selection of scenic summer walks in and around Stroud for free.

The Cotswold Wardens will be leading a number of walks in June and July, with even more available further afield.

The walks can be joined for free, although a voluntary contribution is appreciated to support the wardens' work on footpath maintenance.

The walks usually start at 10am, except on Tuesday, June 16, when you'll need to set off a bit earlier at 9.30am.

The first of the planned walks kicks off at Crickley Hill, starting at Crickley Hill Cafe on Thursday, June 11.

This is a gentle three-mile route aimed at introducing new walkers to the joys of the countryside, as well as those recovering from health setbacks.

Tuesday, June 16, offers a three-hour, five-mile walk starting from the centre of Miserden village.

The circuit takes walkers towards Winstone, through woodlands, and past the site of a Motte and Bailey fort.

On Saturday, June 20 at 7pm, an evening stroll through Badminton village to Little Badminton and back through the Badminton Park Estate takes place.

The following month, Friday, July 10, sees a gentle walk around Miserden, starting from The Carpenters Arms at 10am.

Tuesday, July 14, offers two different walks, both starting at 10am.

Six miles of woodland tracks and hillsides await those meeting at the Shortwood National Trust car park.

Friday, July 17, brings a walk along part of the Cotswold Way escarpment, commencing from a car park in the woods near Cranham.

All walks begin and end at the same point.

A packed lunch is recommended for all participants.

Sadly, no dogs allowed, but dog walkers could find attractive self-guided walks on the website.
