This walk affords the opportunity for far-reaching views over a Peak District panorama fashioned long ago by glacial melt, but embellished more recently by the forward planning of landscape architect Capability Brown and gardener/architect Sir Joseph Paxton.

This circular walk takes the rambler through several districts or ‘ends’ of Baslow: West End at Bubnell, Bridge End and Nether End – where the entrance to the leafy deer park of Chatsworth is to be found

Bakewell and the Russian Cottage
Bakewell? Chatsworth? Edensor? Monsal Trail? This walk has it all. Head out from Bakewell and follow a section of the Monsal Trail. Pass by the Russian Cottage, a gift to the 6th Duke of Devonshire in 1855 by Tzar Nicholas of Russia.

Bakewell and the River Wye
Bakewell straddles the River Wye and sits snugly between the rolling limestone hills of the White Peak and the dramatic escarpments and moors of Dark Peak gritstone. This lovely walk takes us along beautiful Lathkill Dale and back to the town

Ashford-in-the-Water and Monsal Head
The walk starts in the pretty village of Ashford-in-the Water, just a mile and a half from Bakewell. Cross fields, over stiles, along old walled paths as well as through a long, lit tunnel on the famous Monsal Trail, providing an impressive approach into a stunningly beautiful Derbyshire Dale.
