Ashbourne’s renowned designer fashion retailer will relocate to new premises in the Green Man building in October 2013, and will use the new space to introduce menswear collections

Young Ideas has been trading in Ashbourne for over forty years and has occupied its current location behind the clock tower on St John Street for 25 years. The new store will facilitate expansion at Young Ideas and the increased space is being used to enhance the womenswear offer and introduce menswear.

The new designer menswear collections include a unique range of casual and smart ready to wear from leading names such as Belstaff, Paul Smith and Hugo Boss. The range will also include new and exclusive contemporary brands from Scandinavian designers SAND and Samsoe & Samsoe in addition to an extensive range of stylish mens gift ideas. Menswear will also be available online and will move into dedicated space in the new store in October.

Menswear collections will be available in the existing store from the beginning of September and the new store will be opened on Tuesday 8th October 2013.

Construction work has been underway at the new premises throughout the summer and has been conducted in sympathy with the 17th century original building. The development includes the installation of a new shop window front on St John Street as well as a luxury new store interior. Other key features will include a personal styling suite and an art gallery - ‘Artspace ‘ - which will feature work by local artists, and artists specialising in fashion and the female form.

The move by Young Ideas represents the first phase of the development of the Green Man building and will set the standard for the high quality restoration of the remainder of the site. Plans are currently being developed for more premium activities on the site which may include further retail units, a café and gastro pub and the introduction of boutique hotel rooms. Colin and Anne Wright – owners of Young Ideas and The Green Man - hope that the development will further enhance the attractions of Ashbourne as a destination for people who enjoy the specialist independent retail offer in the town, alongside opportunities for a great dining and drinking experience.
