Born in Amersham, Buckinghamshire in 1977, Eddie Howe was raised in Verwood on the East Dorset border.
He joined AFC Bournemouth as a 10-year-old. Between 1994 and 2008, he made all but two of his 273 Football League appearances for the Cherries, before managing them between 2008 and 2011. After a brief spell with Burnley, he returned to his current role in 2012 and has spent the majority of his life living in Dorset.
Why I enjoy living in Dorset: First and foremost, I absolutely love the area. I’m a huge advocate of what Bournemouth and the wider county has to offer. We’re spoilt with the scenery, both in terms of the coast and countryside. Dorset is a beautiful place to live.
Favourite Walks: I’ve done quite a few walks along the Jurassic Coast, down towards Durdle Door and also around Swanage. When I get any spare time I like to go to the beach with my dog. My regular haunt is Branksome. I also love walking in the New Forest. I grew up in Verwood, so that’s a place I’ll always have huge fondness for. I have to mention Ringwood too. Both Verwood and Ringwood are fantastic places to bring up children.
Favourite Places to Eat: I really like the Boathouse in Christchurch, it’s a nice place to have a coffee or a meal. Christchurch as a whole is a lovely town. Westbourne is fantastic too. I regularly stop off there as it’s in between the club and my home in Lower Parkstone. With all the coffee houses and restaurants around that area it’s a good place for lunch.
