With the warmer weather soon to arrive as the spring continues, you might fancy going for a pint or two in and around the Bournemouth area.

There are numerous establishments to pick from, but we wondered what really stood out among the community.

We asked Daily Echo readers what they considered to be the best pubs in the town, and more than 500 comments were left in response.

Bear's Bar & Venue

An establishment that proved immensely popular on the Facebook post was Bear's Bar & Venue on Holdenhurst Road, which received almost 100 comments in support of it.

One of our readers in Josie Sturgess-Mills wrote: "Young or old like me, Bears bar n Venue is a wonderful place to spend time. The staff are lovely. The clientele wonderfully diverse and the live music and gigs are always great."

Another commented: "Bear's Bar & Venue is a great friendly independent venue and haven of good live music too! Highly recommended."

The live music appears to be a great selling point for the establishment alongside a wide selection of drinks and a friendly atmosphere.

The Goat & Tricycle

Another popular option on the Facebook post was The Goat & Tricycle on West Hill Road.

One of our readers in Robin Finch wrote: "The Goat and Tricycle - great staff, good food, great selection of real ales and a beer garden."

It has earned a good reputation for its food, which it says on its website is made using locally sourced produce.

Of course, its options for drinks were also a point of praise, particularly for its ales and cider.

As a bonus, the pub is also a dog-friendly establishment.

The Firkin Shed

The Firkin Shed over towards Springbourne also received a decent number of comments on the Facebook post.

One reader described it as a "great pub for a post match pint" as it's fairly close to AFC Bournemouth.

For those who are cider lovers, you'll be well-served going here, with there being a great range to choose from.

Alongside that, the establishment has a great selection of all kinds of drinks, particularly for spirits, and a well-regarded food menu.

Plus, on the warmer days the small beer garden provides some nice outdoor seating.

All Hail Ale

Fairly near to another representative on this list in The Goat & Tricycle is All Hail Ale, which received a number of comments of support.

One reader summed it up succinctly by writing: "decent drinks, decent prices, decent pub."

Given the name of the establishment, you'll be well-served for any kind of ale or stout and the food is also got a decent reputation.

The Wight Bear

The Wight Bear in Southbourne was an establishment that got a few comments of support.

Aside from its well-praised drinks selection the micropub also holds a wide array of events.

This includes live music, comedy, poetry and more, with plenty of small plates of food to enjoy alongside that.

Spyglass & Kettle

Another Southbourne pub in The Spyglass & Kettle received a few comments on the post, with one reader writing: "dog friendly, kid friendly, quiz, live music, TVs, good prices. Definitely a winner."

The Greene King pub seems to be well-regarded among locals, with a decent selection of drinks and food to enjoy alongside its weekly live music entertainment.

Chaplin's & The Cellar Bar

Chaplin's & The Cellar Bar in Boscombe was another place that received praise, with one reader commenting: "Fantastic place. Great wine's and beers lovely food in their new restaurant. Lovely garden area. With love music at night. We love it."

It has won a slew of awards, including being named among the CAMRA guide and is well-known for its cocktails and gravity-poured real ale.
