Nigel Kennedy is set to perform in Bournemouth as part of his first major UK tour in more than 15 years.

The world-renowned violinist will take to the stage at the Bournemouth Pavilion on Wednesday, November 11, as part of his Virtuoso tour.

Mr Kennedy, who rose to fame with his 1989 recording of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, said: "Obviously I love London and Birmingham but there’s a different vibe about places with smaller populations such as Bournemouth.

"The audience are what makes a concert special – it is a team collaboration and music is an inspiration for bringing people together."

The tour sees him return to towns and cities he hasn’t played in for more than 20 years, after a career that has taken him around the globe.

Described by The Guardian as "One of the most important violinists Britain has ever produced," Mr Kennedy has promised a diverse setlist ranging from classical pieces to jazz and folk.

Audiences can expect to hear everything from Gershwin’s The Man I Love to Bach’s Chaconne and a "moving and delicate" version of Danny Boy.

He will be joined on stage by long-time collaborators Alec Dankworth on double bass and cellist Peter Adams.
