The Dorset Chamber Orchestra is set to start its 40th season with a concert in Dorchester this weekend.
Taking place at St Mary's Church on Edward Road, the concert will commence at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 10.
The programme includes four different works, all characterised by their "remarkable vitality, warmth and life-affirming character."
The evening will open with Mozart's Overture to The Marriage of Figaro, known for its energy and theatrical exuberance.
This will be followed by Corelli's Concerto Grosso in G minor, Op. 6 No. 12, which showcases the interplay between soloists and orchestra, highlighting the freshness and creativity of Baroque music.

The atmosphere will shift with Fauré's Masques et Bergamasques, a piece praised for its grace, lyricism, and "sense of joie de vivre."
The concert will conclude with Beethoven's Symphony No. 2, a work noted for its energy and optimism despite being written during a challenging period in the composer's life.
The symphony is considered a fitting piece to celebrate the beginning of the orchestra's 40th season due to its rhythmic drive, humour, and exuberance.
For four decades, the Dorset Chamber Orchestra has been performing in Dorset, comprising both professional and highly experienced amateur musicians.
The orchestra is under the direction of conductor Walter Brewster and formerly Dr Robert Jacoby.
The start of its 40th season is set to provide an uplifting and energising musical experience for its audience.
Tickets for the event are available from the Dorset Chamber Orchestra website.
