This artisanal cafe and gelateria is the perfect pit stop for anyone with a sweet tooth. Indulge in sweet and savoury crepes, hand-roasted coffee and matcha, or get the day off to the right start with one of the team's breakfast bowls and shakes.

The genius behind The Gelato Kitchen is chef Anshu Anghotra, who’s driven by a passion for crafting the perfect Italian-style gelato. His obsession sprung from his time working with world-class chefs, including Raymond Blanc and Pierre Garnier, and led him to develop gelato recipes that made the most of his distinctive flair. Having spent most of his life in the kitchen, Anshu was eager to create a space that showcases the art of cooking and highlights the hand-picked ingredients he’s so fond of.

From the menu, we like the sound of the organic chia bowl and the tofu nasi goreng dosam, a vegan, gluten-free lifestyle crepe that uses batter made from 48-hour fermented brown rice, lentils and millets. It’s filled with scrambled tofu and seasoned with lime juice and a classic and delicious Balinese flavour combination, Nasi Goreng.

The health-conscious should sample the sea moss health booster shake. Made with homemade sea moss gel, spinach, avocado, apples and lime juice, it’s packed with natural goodness, anti-inflammatory properties and helps balance blood sugar levels.

A favourite of Anshu’s is the fitness and protein shake. ‘I have it every morning,’ he shares. ‘I also love the crushed avocado and scrambled egg dosa with truffle butter. Truffle, when paired with egg, is simply divine.’

And of course the crème de la crème here is the gelato – available by the scoop or sandwiched between thin wafers. ‘We use an ageing technique to create depth of flavour,’ says Anshu. ‘It’s aged for a minimum of 48 hours and is always served at –9 degrees.
