The 218th Westmorland County Show welcomed HRH The Prince of Wales

Beautiful sunshine and blue skies welcomed nearly 4,000 visitors to the 218th Westmorland County Show, including His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

Arriving by helicopter, HRH enjoyed a tour of the showground taking in many highlights in between talking to producers, exhibitors and visitors. His visit was rounded off with Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling, where he presented prizes to the under 15s.

Other sights and sounds included cattle classes, which featured Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis as a judge, pigs, alpacas and sheep, where entries hit a record high. Entertainment in the Main Ring proved popular and included impressive carriage driving, heavy horse turnouts, dog and duck display and the Vale of Lune Harriers.

The new Equine Village was also hailed a success. There were also various marquees: Learning for Life and WI and County Show, alongside the Food Hall and Theatre with appearances from many chefs including Phil Vickery.
