A magnificent black tie dinner in aid of Defibs 4 Kids, a Wigan-based charity raising money to provide defibrillators at schools and sports centres, was attended by around 200 and raised £5,000.
The charity was started by Christina Rimmer, of Fleet Dynamic, after Harry Faulkner, a local lad, died of a suspected cardiac arrest at the age of just 18.
Defibrillators are small portable devices that are designed to diagnose and treat potentially fatal cardiac arrhythmias. They are specifically designed so can be operated by anyone regardless of their medical background, using a series of simple audio and visual commands.
