Lancaster's Litfest 2023 (March 17 to 26) launches with a lively children's festival with a packed programme of events and activities for all ages, from 'Bounce and Rhyme' for toddlers through to a ‘Make a Mouse’ session and the Litfest Big Read.

Meet novelist and screen-writer Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Lancashire Book of the Year winner Cynthia Murphy or head for one of Sophie Anderson’s drop-in sessions on 'What to Read Next'.

For the grown-ups, there is a range of fiction, story-telling, poetry, nature and history events (explore the Slave Trade, the Good Friday Agreement and figures from the past including Anne Lister, TV’s ‘Gentleman Jack’) plus the Wildlife Photography Competition and the all-comers’ Poetry Map ‘From Source to Sea’, celebrating the Northwest’s rivers.

All events are free, though Litfest welcomes donations of all sizes. litfest.org
