When is a bungalow not a bungalow? When it’s a two-storey property in the countryside at Lathom with glorious gardens and huge potential for entertaining.

The vendor says:

When was the house built?

The house was built just over 30 years ago although it was not completed until we bought it. We have lived in the house for seven years after completing an extensive refurbishment.

What first attracted you to it?

We were first attracted to the house because of its peaceful location and the beautiful sandstone design. We also saw huge potential in the property as it hadn’t been completed or lived in, it meant we could put our own stamp on it.

How have you changed the house?

We have totally transformed the house from top to bottom. It was literally a shell; no stairs, kitchen, bathrooms or floors. It’s really been a labour of love. We lived in a static caravan on site for ten months, it was our very own grand designs.

What will you miss about the house?

We will definitely miss Christmas here; we have a huge tree in the double-height hallway and several other trees around including one in the bar where the family always end up. The formal dining room sits all the family and we have enough bedrooms for everybody to stay over – it’s a great entertaining house.

Describe the garden:

When we bought the property the garden was like a jungle, we didn’t realise there was a pond until everything was cut back. The garden is now where we spend our summers. We love hydrangeas and there are over 50 in the borders alone. When we finish tending to the land, we relax in the outdoor kitchen trying to perfect the perfect pizza in the wood burning oven. In the winter we have a small fire on the paddock and toast marshmallows. It really is a house and garden to enjoy in all seasons.
