The Squash Café Garden

The Squash Shop and Café is a community-designed eco building. The café garden is situated behind the building. Fruit trees, herbs, vegetables and flowers are grown in raised and moveable beds. The garden produce is used by the café, and the garden provides a beautiful inspiring space for customers to enjoy the delicious food on offer.

This garden opens as part of Canning and Toxteth Gardens. Refreshments available.

Grapes Community Food Garden

The Grapes Community Food Garden has been developed over the past 13 years with local residents and community members. Weekly gardening and cooking sessions take place in the garden all year-round. They grow a large variety of fruit trees and bushes, herbs, vegetables and flowers. They also grow plants to save seeds for the Toxteth Seed Library.

This garden opens as part of Canning and Toxteth Gardens. Refreshments available.

Grow Blackpool

A productive garden with areas that are given over to growing fruit, vegetables and herbs. Two large polytunnels, raised beds and areas of seating are placed alongside an accessible modern space. Dead hedges have been created to provide supportive habitat for wildlife and organic materials are composted on site.

Tea, coffee and cake available.

Moss Park Allotments

Moss Park is a stunning, award-winning allotment site in Stretford. Wide grass paths flanked by pretty flower borders give way to a large variety of well-tended plots bursting with ideas to try at home, from insect hotels to unusual fruits and vegetables. Take tea and cake on the lawn outside the quirky society clubhouse that looks like a beamed country pub. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes are available.

This garden also opens by arrangement from June to August.

Shepherd Road Allotments

Shepherd Road, Lytham

July 18

An amazing and award-winning haven away from the hustle of life, featured on BBC Gardeners’ World in 2024, with more than 170 plots growing a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, flowers and trees. A rough track leads you around the site where many of the plots can be viewed or stroll along the grassy paths to find tucked-away gems like the wildlife area and the orchard. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and cake available with money raised in aid of St Annes RNLI.

Sefton Park Allotments

Greenbank Drive, Liverpool, L17 1AS

August 16

There are almost 100 individually tended fruit and vegetable plots with a wide variety of produce on six acres, including armed forces charity SSAFA and children’s allotments and a community orchard. It was named the best kept allotment site in Liverpool 2019, and Liverpool City’s best allotment plot in 2022.

These allotments will be open as part of Sefton Park Gardens. Refreshments at Fern Grove and Sefton Park Allotments. .
