A family favourite

1 The Rest is tucked away just behind the Aldeburgh High Street, a deceptively spacious home that sleeps six people in contemporary, coastal-inspired style. The large kitchen/diner has vast, high ceilings and large windows looking out to the rear garden. Upstairs, the large sitting room with wood-burning stove, has breath-taking views of Aldeburgh’s shingle beach and the sea, as do all three of the bedrooms, each of which has its own private ensuite facilities. But the best bit. . . the garden gate leads straight out onto the seafront promenade. Children can explore the beach while you sit back and keep watch from the private balcony above. This is a wonderful place for family holidays that you’ll simply want to return to time and again.

KERSEY

A writer’s retreat

Ayres End Studio is in one of Suffolk’s most charming villages. It’s a beautifully converted, thatched studio that sleeps two, set within the charming, landscaped gardens of Ayres End House, and was once the place where author Hammond Innes sought inspiration for his novels and travel books. The large open-plan studio has a handsome, mahogany super king size bed, a spacious sitting area and a large wall unit that cleverly forms a well-equipped, self-contained kitchen, which can be closed up when not in use. Guests also have exclusive access to a medieval-style summer house – the perfect spot for coffee at the start of a day exploring this beautiful part of Suffolk.
