Based in Brighton, the charity was founded in 1967 by the late Dr Trevor Mann as an appeal to provide the first neonatal incubator outside of London. 50 years on, Rockinghorse has launched its Sussex Giving for Sussex Children appeal, with the aim to raise £500,000 in 2017 which will be split between 10 children’s centres and paediatric services in Sussex.

In celebration of their Golden Jubilee, Rockinghorse is hosting a gala charity ball at The Grand Hotel in Brighton on Saturday 7 October 2017 from 6.30pm. The event is being sponsored by award-winning law firm DMH Stallard, who have recently expanded their office in Brighton. With many exciting plans in the pipeline, the ball looks set to mark itself as one of the highlights in the Sussex charity calendar.

Ryan Heal, Chief Executive of Rockinghorse Children’s Charity, says: “I am delighted to announce details of our 50th anniversary ball in October. For a local charity to reach such a momentous milestone is an incredible feat, and we wanted to make sure it is marked in the appropriate manner. We look forward to celebrating with supporters old and new.”

It’s going to be a spectacular event for a great cause, so I encourage people to book their tickets early so they don’t miss out. Dust off those tuxes and shine up those dancing shoes, it’s going to be a great evening.”

About Rockinghorse Children’s Charity

Rockinghorse is a Brighton-based charity that has been supporting children in Sussex for 50 years. It was set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann, who recognised there was a real need for additional resources to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies.

Best-known as the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton, the charity has launched its ‘Sussex Giving for Sussex Children’ 50th year appeal for 2017. They aim to provide £500,000 worth of funding which will be split between 10 children’s centres and paediatric services across Sussex. Rockinghorse strives to make these services stimulating, cutting-edge and accessible for the many children, babies and young people who need them by supporting some truly deserving projects.

Rockinghorse does not receive any government funding and relies on the generous support of individuals, community groups, companies and trusts. To find out more, visit www.rockinghorse.org.uk.
