With the release of the newest film in the Indiana Jones franchise, film buffs across Yorkshire will be eager to grab their popcorn and enjoy this anticipated flick.

In a film about the adventures of Dr Jones and his race against time to retrieve a legendary dial that can change history, one of the most interesting things about it is where it was filmed.

While the movie will have visited dozens of exotic locations across the globe, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is the location for a key scene in the film.

Where was Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny filmed in Yorkshire?

Harrison Ford was spotted filming the movie in Grosmont in 2021 when a section of track on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway was used for a daring escape from a Nazi prison camp during World War II.

Props were spotted at the location including tanks, a guard tower and a steam train dressed in the colours of 1940s German railways.

The railway hs been a popular filming location for Hollywood films in the past; the station at Goathland featured as Hogsmeade in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

The railway line will also play a part in the latest Mission:Impossible movie.

When will Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny be released?

The New Indiana Jones film is released on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, to cinemas across the UK.

It is set to star big names like Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Harrison Ford who have become inseparable from the franchise since it started all the way back in 1981.
