Former Coronation Street star Faye Brookes on why she loves her Cheshire life
Where do you live and why? I’ve just moved to Manchester, right in the heart of the city centre, from Wilmslow. I grew up in Flixton, went to school in Cheshire and still have all of my family close by, which is comforting to me.
Where do you head for a health kick? I love a spa, I have a couple of favourite places that I always look forward to visiting; Ragdale Hall and Champneys, which has now opened at Mottram Hall. But If I’m feeling run down or need a quick boost, I’ll go to Reviv and get a vitamin drip. I visit the Knutsford branch and then I can do a bit of shopping while I am there, or grab a bite in one of the many gorgeous coffee and tea shops!
And to indulge? Oh, I definitely have a glass of red wine or two in a beautiful restaurant and give myself permission to have whatever I want to eat! There are definitely a few gems to indulge in, my favourites are Victors in Hale, The Ivy Brasserie, The French at The Midland or Rosso.
What are your favourite places to shop? I do love Selfridges because it’s all under one roof, plus there is Facegym now, which is my new obsession - a workout for your face! Out of the city centre there’s nothing I enjoy more than a wander through Altrincham and a visit to Altrincham Market. The little independent stalls always have something a bit different to discover and the independent interiors stores in the streets around the market are just lovely.
Where do you go to relax? My home, that’s my safe haven. I always want to have my home comforts around me, that truly relaxes as me.
What does soap star Adam Rickitt love about life in Cheshire?
What is your favourite building in Cheshire? I was fortunate enough to be involved with the series Our Zoo, based on the true story of Chester Zoo. Every day we filmed in and around Cheshire. Filming at Alderley Hall was very special, a place I’ll never forget. That’s my favourite building.
What do you consider to be the finest view in Cheshire? The finest view in Cheshire to me will always will be Dunham Massey, I’ve been brought up visiting the same park for years and all of its glorious grounds. Every Boxing Day we head for a walk there. It’s a timeless tradition, a part of our family history and it always will be.
What do you miss most about Cheshire when you’re away? There is something so unique and special about the people, the pride and the community spirit in Cheshire and Manchester. That’s why I got involved with Manuka Manchester , I really wanted to be a representative of something that stood for something good. The brand is so beautiful and 10% of all proceeds go to the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust. #savethebees
What is your happy place? I am never happier than when I’m doing what I love. I miss performing live on stage or working on set. I can’t wait to begin the next chapter of my career!
