The search is on for Cheshire's inspiring women. Nominate a woman whose achievements have impressed you

The 2010 Inspiring Women Awards, in association with Britannia and the Co-operative Bank, both part of The Co-operative Financial Services Group, will be celebrating 18 years of recognising the achievements of women in the North West. Over the years readers of Cheshire Life and Lancashire Life magazines have nominated remarkable women: from those who drive our local economy to those demonstrating fortitude, bravery and generosity.Winners of the 2009 Awards represent the diversity of the type of women we seek to recognise. The inaugural Social Entrepreneur Award was given to Lucy Danger who has been pioneering waste recycling since 1997. The popular winner of the Community Award was Gee Walker who set up The Anthony Walker Foundation after the horrific murder of her son, Anthony, in 2005. Gee exudes forgiveness and her message of racial harmony and tolerance earned her a standing ovation.Nominations are now being sought across five award categories: Public Sector; Business, sponsored by Deloitte; Community; Social Entrepreneurs, sponsored by Business Link NorthWest and new for 2010 is the Inspiring Young Women Award that seeks to recognise the achievements of our next generation. We want to hear from you about those women who make a difference through their businesses, in their community or in their families.Neville Richardson, Chief Executive of The Co-operative Financial Services (CFS), said: ‘The Inspiring Women Awards is a really inspiring initiative, one that has proven to be extremely popular and successful over the last 18 years. CFS is committed to offering equal opportunities to all staff – recognising, celebrating and rewarding those who make a real difference. We also recognise the importance of inspiring the next generation and providing positive role models for young women. We are therefore delighted to be working again with Inspiring Women to acknowledge the fantastic achievements of so many women in the North West.’
