The entry list read as it does every year at Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials, like a who’s who of eventing; medallists galore, six former winners, a current World Champion and three riders in the world top eight so visitors and supporters won’t have been disappointed.

Over 170 combinations from 13 countries around the world arrived for three top-drawer competitions; the Equi-Trek CCI3*, the British Equestrian Trade Association CIC3* and the Bishop Burton College U25 CCI3*.

William Fox-Pitt, who this year failed to gain a record eighth win, headed the British entry with Pippa Funnell, Kristina Cook, Oliver Townend and local heroine Nicola Wilson all amongst the top names entered. Nicola Wilson, from Northallerton went on to win the BETA CIC3* at the trials for the first time, riding her parents’ mare Annie Clover.

Charlotte Brear from Bingley with Manor Missile, an amateur rider (the only one from Yorkshire in the cci***) finished 38th out of 80 on a total of 74 and qualified to compete at Burghley 4* in September.
