We’ve teamed up with local Dorset company Jurassic Kites Ltd to offer Dorset magazine readers the chance to win one of four of their best-selling pterodactyl kites.

Designed in 2012, the kite was the idea of Sibyl Fine King of the Fine Family Foundation, a long-standing supporter of projects along the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site.

Sibyl thought it would be wonderful to see pterodactyls flying once more over the famous Dorset and East Devon coastline, they were last seen in the skies here between the late Jurassic through to the late Cretaceous period, approximately 145 to 66 million years ago. She worked with designers to create and patent the unique design for a pterodactyl kite, and Jurassic Kites Ltd was born. The kite is now sold around the world with stockists in France, Australia and North America.

The pterodactyl kite is a unique design and each kite comes with information about pterosaurs and the Jurassic Coast. The kite is easy to fly, educational and encourages all the family to have fun outdoors, and they create quite a stir when seen flying overhead! The kite sells online at £24+P&P and is also available through local stockists along the Jurassic Coast. See jurassickites.co.uk for more details and to order your pterodactyl.
