It's one of the most exciting equestrian events of the year. Enjoy a selection of pictures from past Bramham International Horse Trials to remind you of a great weekend out

There is an added air of excitement in the preparation for this year’s Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials at Wetherby in June, just seven weeks before the Olympic Games. The trials are likely to be the last chance to see many of the Olympic eventing hopefuls before they head to Greenwich Park and the Games.

Bramham, one of the highlights of the equestrian year, takes place on June 7th -10th and is set in the parkland surrounding the ancestral home of the Lane-Fox family. This year is the 39th year of the event.

Many spectacles to enjoy are planned other than the showcase Equi-Trek CC13*, including the Bishop Burton College National Under 25 Championship CC13* and the CC13*. Add to this top British Showjumping, Young Stock and Hunter classes, Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse qualifiers, Pony Team show jumping and the ever-popular Mix and Match means you would be able to see 500 or so horses across 29 competitions over four action-packed days.

But the event isn’t just about horses. It could easily be a shoppers’ paradise too with 130 or so shops surrounding the Equi-Trek arena offering something for everyone. It’s great to be able to start the weekend with a glass of Champagne from the bar, catch the end of the dressage, enjoy dinner alfresco and then indulge in some retail therapy during late-night opening.

There is also an extensive Action & Adventure in Yorkshire arena taking place during the event which last year included quad bikes and archery. This year’s activities, which range across all ages, are yet to be finalised.

We will keep a watching brief as organisers add the finishing touches to what is expected to be one of the most successful Bramham International Horse Trials yet and coverage will appear in a later issue of Yorkshire Life.
