We reveal the superb images which have won prizes in our photographic competition.

These are the images which have taken the prizes in the Cheshire Life photo competition. Our panel of judges faced a tough task in choosing the best shots from over 1,000 entries and after much deliberation agreed on a top five.

The judges first selected a long list of 50 which was gradually narrowed down to a shortlist of 25 from which our three prize winners, two highly commended entries and the 12 shots for our 2012 calendar were chosen.June McNulty from Frodhsam has won first prize for her picture of a boat on the sands at Hoylake which the judges praised for its simplicity and composition.Cheshire Life’s picture editor John Cocks said: ‘It is a photograph which perfectly captures the tranquillity of the scene. Third prize went to Ron Sutton of Chester whose image, Frosty Trees, won him a new Canon Powershot SX220 HS worth �250.

Cheshire Life editor Louise Taylor said: ‘It is a beautiful picture which all the judges felt deserved recognition. It was an incredibly difficult job choosing just three winners from the hundreds of wonderful photographs taken by Cheshire Life readers.’
