Following last year’s successful Breakthrough Music Awards, Larmer Tree Festival are looking for the next crop of ambitious artists to compete at the Breakthrough Music Awards 2014.

Live final - 26th April - 60 Million Postcards, Bournemouth; www.larmertreefestival.co.ukTalented artists and bands are invited to enter the competition for a chance to feature in the July festival line-up, playing alongside established festival performers including Wednesday night headline act Tom Jones (dorsetmagazine.co.uk/sir_tom_jones_performs_at_larmer_tree), Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, Brit nominee Tom Odell, Squeeze, Staff Benda Bilili, Stornoway and Dreadzone. The two winners will also be awarded four-day festival passes to enjoy the full Larmer Tree Festival experience.

The Breakthrough Music Awards are calling applicants to upload their chosen track via the Larmer Tree website (www.larmertreefestival.co.uk/breakthrough-music-awards) before 7th April, for a chance to make the shortlist across two categories: Singer/Songwriter/Duoor the Group/Band category.

Larmer Tree fans and music lovers will then play a part in whittling the shortlist of 12 tracks down to just 6 finalists via a 48-hour public vote, after which the remaining acts are called to battle it out live with a 15 minute set in front of an audience and panel of judges at 60 Million Postcards in

Bournemouth. Judges include Larmer Tree Festival Founder and Music Programmer James Shepard, Artist Coordinator Abi Norman and a surprise guest judge! The two winners of the 2013 awards, NineBarrow and Goan Dogs, went on to perform to great acclaim at the festival last summer with NineBarrow already booked to return to the festival stages this summer having released their first full album in the interim.

About Larmer Tree Festival

Taking place from 16th-20th July 2014, Larmer Tree Festival will feature over 70 music acts to perform across six stages, alongside award-winning comedy from the ARC Comedy Club, a film club hosted by Mark Kermode, arts and craft workshops, delicious festival food and much much more. With a limited audience capacity of 4,000 a day, the Festival Directors are committed to keeping the event wholly independent and free from corporate sponsorship.

Founded by Festival Directors James Shepardand Julia Safe, Larmer Tree Festival has been drawing in crowds for nearly a quarter of a century; it all started as a 12 hour event for 100 people and has now grown to a five-day extravaganza in the Larmer Tree Gardens, a stunning Victorian park near the Wiltshire/Dorset border.
