Sussex will be welcoming The Countrywide Great Tour this summer so we took a closer look at the second stop in our county, Brighton.
The Countrywide Great Tour begins on 4 July and takes place over 64 days visiting all sorts of coastal locations across the UK. After departing Rye at 8.30am on 11 August, the tour arrives in Brighton the same afternoon.
If you’re taking part yourself or supporting a friend or family member in the tour, there’s plenty on offer in the city of Brighton and Hove. Here are a few places to enjoy a meal out and some hotel suggestions...
Food for Friends - 17-18 Prince Albert St, BN1 1HF
Brighton is a paradise for vegetarians. But Food for Friends, celebrating 33 years on the scene, pleases even the most devoted carnivores. Discover more in our review here.
The Cyclist Refreshment Room - Brighton Station
Couldn’t really be more appropriate, could it? The Cyclist Refreshment Room brought to you by Greenwell & Tipple, a family run business, moves away from the pub cliché and brings back the ‘refreshment room’ of the 19th century. Find out more here.

Yum Yum Ninja - 15-18 Meeting House Lane
Pan Asian restaurant Yum Yum Ninja is an innovative offering from the team behind Riddle and Finn. Meze. Sharing platters. Tapas. There’s a reason why we are in love with variety. When it comes to food, we just want to sample as much as possible.
Terre A Terre - 71 East Street, BN1 1HQ
A Brighton institution and more than worthy of the many accolades it has received. For carnivores and committed salad-botherers alike, it is a revelation. We reviewed way back in 2011!
Fish + Liquor - 1-14 Madeira Drive, BN2 1PS
Fish + Liquor has become the latest addition to Brighton’s increasingly lauded foodie scene, serving up classic seaside favourite fish ‘n’ chip fare but with a gourmet twist, and in a retro, comic book-themed restaurant.
