Competitive spirits were high at the annual Prince’s Trust golf day, held at Royal Birkdale Golf Club

Royal Birkdale Golf Club played host to the annual Prince’s Trust Golf Day, raising £30,000 for the youth charity. The event saw 21 teams compete, with Clearwater International claiming the prestigious winners title. A prize for the longest drive and the golfer nearest the pin was also up for grabs, as well as an exclusive auction featuring a tour of Highgrove and corporate box tickets at Liverpool FC. Clarke Energy sponsored the event along with Duerrs and Investec Wealth & Investment.

Golf pro Carly Booth, who became the youngest ladies’ club champion in Britain at the age of 11, also attended the day, taking part in ‘beat the pro’ which saw amateurs go up against the Scottish champion.

Lawrence Barnett, chairman of the golf day committee, said: ‘We’re thrilled that the event has raised more funds than ever before. Fundraising activities like these are so crucial in supporting more disadvantaged young people to get their lives back on track and achieve their full potential.’
