On a bright sunny spring afternoon Condor Ferries welcomed over 3,000 visitors to Poole Quay for a day of free family fun to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its first ever sailing from the Channel Islands to France in 1964.
The fast ferry ‘Condor Express’, decorated with gold balloons and bunting, made a striking sight moored at Poole Quay and visitors were invited on board to take a tour, visit the Bridge (a popular choice with youngsters) and meet the ship’s Captain.
Representatives from Jersey, Guernsey and St Malo tourism organisations, where Condor sails to, were also on board to offer information about activities, events and accommodation in the Channel Islands and the Brittany region of France. In addition visitors sampled local delicacies from the destinations, including Jersey black butter.
