Mayors from Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre and Chorley joined 343 guests at a special Oscar style ball held at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool.

The event marked the 20th anniversary since Donna Curtis passed away – the young lady behind the inspiration of Donna’s Dream House, a Blackpool-based charity providing free holiday experiences for children and teenagers with life-threatening illnesses and their families, and for recently bereaved siblings and their families.

At the ball, the charity officials said they would be working alongside New Life Foundation, allowing them to jointly help families with more equipment and specialist care needs. On the night, £12,000 was raised by those in attendance, but with additional sponsorship and match funding they expect to have raised in excess of £30,000.

Donna’s parents, Len and Babs Curtis, said: ‘We would like to thank everyone involved in making the ball such a special night and to all those who continue to help build the dream, creating special memories and treasured smiles.’
