Family brewers JW Lees showed some style when they treated friends from the hospitality and media worlds to a champagne luncheon at their smart Manchester bar and restaurant, Dutton’s.

Managing Director William Lees-Jones explained that the occasion marked the Albert Square eaterie’s first anniversary and linked up with the city’s Food and Drink Festival, in full swing outside as guests enjoyed flutes of Laurent Perrier Champagne Brut NV.

Dutton’s staff welcomed the award-winning brigade from JW Lees’s Alderley Edge Hotel. The Alderley’s Head Chef Sean Sutton and crew set up home for the day to create the splendid lunch, each course matched with a fine wine from Lees’s Willougby’s range. The menu began with cured smoked salmon with textures of leek and potato. Main course was satisfying corn-fed Cheshire chicken, sweetcorn and coriander noodle broth with Kaffir lime. Dessert was a delightful deconstructed apple pie with Calvados custard, followed by Alderley Edge fudge and coffee.
