A GALA dinner raised almost £8,000 for the restoration of Egerton Park at Bolton.

The evening, which was held in the Pennine Suite at the Last Drop Hotel, was organised by a commitee set up to support dedicated volunteers. Over three years, the Egerton Park Improvement Committee (EPIC) has attracted over £100,000 of investment and has built a new children’s play area, installed outdoor gym equipment and a zip wire. They would now like to redevelop an old barn with the view to transforming it into a cafe and community meeting place.

David Greenhalgh, a member of the committee, said: ‘It has been a monumental achievement. It is an absolute privilege and pleasure to work with such a dedicated group of volunteers. The support we have had from local businesses, schools and the wider community has been unbelievable, and it has definitely brought us all much closer together.’
