Members of the thriving North Meols Lawn Tennis Club in Churchtown, Southport, staged a double celebration this summer.
The event, complete with a special cake, marked the opening of new clubhouse and recorded the fact the club had passed its 100th birthday. Judith Heaton, a member for 40 years and chairman for 20 of them, said they had trophies going back to 1911 but they decided to postpone any celebration until the new pavilion was completed. The club has around 300 members ranging from mini-juniors to adults.
