A 50th birthday was celebrated in style while raising much needed funds for a Chorley-based children’s charity.

Sue Mulkern hosted her black-tie charity ball event, which had a cruise ship theme, at Farington Lodge near Leyland. More than 130 friends and family attended the event, all helping to raise £2,360 for children’s hospice, Derian House.

Sue Mulkern said: ‘This charity is so special to so many across Lancashire and the north west, and exists only through charity efforts like these.

‘ thank everyone for making it such a perfect evening in every way, not just in helping me to celebrate reaching a milestone, but for the wonderful generosity.’
