The Wildlife Trust has created a new guide to wildlife activities, TOP UK Wildlife Experiences

An exciting new seasonal guide offers a perfect opportunity to plan a ‘wild’ year of activities for 2016. The Wildlife Trusts’ online guide to Top UK Wildlife Experiences is perfect for making plans to venture outdoors and see what’s sky-dancing, swooping or singing. It homes in on the charismatic, the mysterious and the startling gorgeous – from gannets to glow worms and from bluebells to butterflies – and shows you how to get closer to the wild.

Iconic Essex species and Essex Wildlife Trust nature reserves feature strongly with treats such as marvelling at orchids at Shadwell Wood, seeing bats emerge from their roost at Hanningfield Reservoir, seeking out the elusive lesser spotted woodpecker at Shut Heath Wood or listening to the nightingale concert at Fingringhoe Wick.

The Wildlife Trusts would like to know about your favourite wildlife experience from the list of more than 60 experiences and also a bit about the special moments that you had along the way. Please cast your vote – there’s a voting button on each experience page. The results will be published in 2017.

Simon Barnes, a wildlife author and journalist who introduced these top wildlife-watching experiences, said: ‘Here are many, many ways in which you can get closer to the wild world than you ever dreamed.”
