Hungry hordes descended onto Chester Racecourse over the Easter weekend for the annual Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival. Glorious weather saw a record 29,400 visitors across the three-day event enjoy a range of culinary delights from 190 local and regional exhibitors.

‘It really was a brilliant weekend,’ said festival organiser Stephen Wundke. ‘Visitors of all ages enjoyed it. Our food festival isn’t just for adults. We had our Academy of Culinary Arts kids’ class that taught 830 children across the three days how to cook – which was fantastic.’

Another popular feature was the new Napoleon barbecue demonstration stage, where festival-goers were taught how to avoid typical grilling blunders.

‘Of course we also had our usual demonstration stage with excellent chefs such as Simon Rimmer – but it was Andrew Nutter who really stole the show,’ added Stephen.

‘Despite some rain on the Sunday, it was an excellent festival. We aim to attract 30,000 visitors next year.’
