View at Spixworth Hall Cottages, Grange Farm
This is the view from my cousin’s farm. Patrick Cook and his wife Sheelah are very dear people to me and are one of the reasons I came to Norfolk. It is the most beautiful place especially with the dawn chorus in April. It reminds me of being a child. My family were very high powered musicians and I played the harp and had a very stressed childhood, so when I went to stay with my cousins on their farm it was the only place I felt there was no stress or guilt. I would share a little cot bed and wake up in the morning to listen to the birds, I was so happy. It gave me some idea of what a normal childhood meant – regularity, security and love – which is what you set out to give your children, that sense of being okay.
