Building on the success of their bi-monthly live music events, the Sixpenny Sessions team is proud to announce their latest and most ambitious project since last year’s hugely successful Waistcoat Festival.
The Big Session will take place on the Cricket Pitch and in the Village Hall, Common Road, Sixpenny Handley SP5 5ND on Saturday 27 June from 2.00 pm to 11.00 pm (gates open 1.30 pm).
The Big Session is an outdoor music event for all the family. There will be live music all day, music and craft workshops for children and adults as well as play experiences for the little ones. There is a fabulous line up of music with some Sixpenny Sessions favourites including Big Joe Bone, TheLongTale, Mother Ukers, The Lupinis, Tom Clements, Break Cover, The Collaborators and headline act, The Hightown Crows. Sixpenny Sessions has also teamed up with Larmer Tree Festival to present their 2015 Breakthrough Music Award Act ‘The Villanovas” and have a special performance by Pitch Perfect, part of Salisbury Dance Studio, featuring children from the village.
The music workshops will be held in the village hall for children and adults 0 – 95 years old! The eagerly anticipated Baby Rave for toddlers, Ukulele and Djembe drum workshops and the Singalong for all those who are young (or simply young at heart!) are already generating a great deal of excitement.
Jen Gordon of Sixpenny Sessions tells us: “There is already quite a buzz about The Big Session following our launch on social media. Since we started Sixpenny Sessions we’ve wanted to do an event that was child friendly and affordable for families, so we are really excited to be bringing this mini festival to Handley. Of course we couldn’t have made it happen without the generous support of a number of local organisations.”
The Big Session is sponsored by Bassets, Clarity Copiers, Damory Vets, James Byrne Print & Design, Sandroyd School, Trouble Afoot, Wessex Raceway and Wessex Fire & Security. Plus. some amazing raffle prizes have been donated by Larmer Tree Gardens, Moors Valley Country Park, Morrisons, Rushmore Golf Club, Salisbury Racecourse, The Tank Museum and Virtual Warfare.
“With outdoor activities on the cricket pitch, fabulous food from Jalopy Pizza, a BBQ, yummy cakes and tea with Tea & Sympathy and of course a full bar featuring, Sixpenny Brewery Ale and Cranborne Chase Cider, we know it’s going to be a fabulous day out for all the family”, adds Jen.
Entrance is by ticket only. Tickets cost £10 for an adult; £20 for a family (2 adults + 2 children) and £2.50 for additional children and are available from Styles Mini Market, High Street, Sixpenny Handley or via www.eventbrite.co.uk (+ online booking fee).
All profits go towards Sixpenny Handley with Pentridge Community Fund. This year Sixpenny Sessions has funded disabled access for Pentridge Village Hall and crockery for ‘Crossroads Cafe’, a project to bring the elderly in Sixpenny Handley together once a week.
